Rose Bendall

Biography

I make bold, physical works intent on captivating an audience. Initially I focused on the medium of sculpture, but as my practice has developed, I have become more interested in the crossover between sculpture and installation. I am motivated by how an installation requires more direct participation and involvement of the audience, it promotes a higher level of engagement and interaction, and this is what I strive to achieve in my work.

I try not to restrict myself to a particular medium or range of materials. I approach my work by undertaking experiments and exploration, this is supported by an understanding of physics and the making of maquette’. I enjoy the process of making and working with new materials. Recently I have used industrial shapes and materials to contradict with the playfulness that I try to create.
