Rebecca Tomlinson

Biography

It began in 2020 during the first lock down when outsider artist and sustainable fashion pioneer Rebecca Tomlinson had no internet for a couple of days, became bored and started playing around with bleach and old rags, just using things that were under her kitchen sink, to print on some of her old clothes.

This gave birth to a new project combining elements from Rebecca's t shirt brand from the early 90s UNiSEX and her high fashion upcycling label SALVAGE that she ran from the late 90s through to the early 2000s.

UNiSEX/SALVAGE was developed during each lockdown while her shop Strangeness and Charm Vintage in Stroud, Gloucestershire, was forced to close because of the pandemic. Rebecca worked with her existing staff during lockdown as well as employing local artisans to work on the production of the new designs.

The t shirts use Rebecca's original artworks and various printing techniques. Subverting pre-owned clothing and sourcing ethical and sustainable raw materials where needed.

The newly formed brand will accompany her existing vintage clothing business, being able to function, however restrictive the circumstances.
