Biography

Julian M C Scott

I have a BA(Hons) in Fine Art from Kingston School of Art, Kingston University London, and an MA in Fine Art from Cardiff School of Art & Design, UWIC. Alongside my creative practice, I have taught at several universities and art schools including Harrow School of Art, (University of Westminster), Bristol School of Art (SGS College) and, most recently, Bristol UWE. I work from my studio which is at the top of my house in Gloucestershire.

My paintings are abstract and I tend to work on several at a time often revisiting them over periods of days, months, or even years. I interrogate the boundaries and nature of painting as an interaction of process, idea and material and working within the natural limitations of surface, paint, edge, etc., perhaps paradoxically, offers me infinite possibility. I have exhibited my work at galleries in the UK, France and Japan.
