Anna Gormley


Biography

Anna Gormley is a Visual Researcher & lecturer in Photography at the University of Gloucestershire. She is also a doctoral researcher working with the ESRC and Cardiff University on a project exploring the production of Photography of displaced communities at the border in Calais and Dunkirk. She has a particular interest in the possibilities of expanded photographic practice to reactivate images of migration.

Before beginning her doctoral research, Anna worked on international photographic projects which sought to activate audiences by including them in the process of image production, pushing the boundaries of the medium and raising questions around authorship & collaboration in image production. Projects include, Danube Revisited, A Portrait of Marrakech with MMPVA & Magnum Photos, & Magnum Live Lab funded by the Arts Council and in collaboration with The British Museum.

Anna works across disciplines. Her research has been shared in academic chapters, through policy reports and best practice image guidelines with International Non-Governmental Organisations, and more recently through visual installations.
